Lay it down with velcro down. It sticks really well to floor liner.

Fold flat when not in use.

Pull out when needed. Reflective strip helps outat night when needed.

One downside I noted, if you have the full size spare, the protector doesn't help much as it is out of the way when the floor is lifted. You could remove it from the floor and lay it over the bumper if necessary.
Another reason to have some clear bra applied to the trunk opening of the bumper.

this is a must, way too many times i've seen brand new cars with scratches all over that area on the bumper. this little investment goes a long way
