Wow this is very sad indeed. What is it with governments failing to control fires? This has happened in multiple places this year.

The problem isn't being reactive to wildfires.

The problem lies with lack of proper forestry management.

yes there has been very bad bush fires in australia , in melbourne it has been very hot 41 to 45 degrees and very windy we live about 5 hours away from the bad fires at the moment and you can smell the smoke it is terrible but not all of the fires have been started by nature (lighting strikes ect )but people lighting them ,very sad for people and animals that have died and have nothing ,also bad fires in nsw ,qld,sa,wa .

Why waste money cleaning up dead trees and sticks when that money can be used on solar farms and wind mills........
Well what do you think is the fuel for the wildfires ????

Clean up costs less than the damage/firefighting costs.

Reduction of pollution from less/smaller fires.

There may have been some sarcasm in that post ;)

Don't tell the libby loo loos that even when the fires burn down their houses they still wont listen which is why California has not seen the worst of it yet. Just wait until the Rockies catch on fire from the dumb @sses not treating the beetles which killed thousands of pine trees which I am guessing are still there just waiting for a camper to do something stupid or a lighting strike to set them ablaze.

The state government have now declared a state of emergency and people can now be ordered to leave affected areas as their safety can no longer be guaranteed.

And it’s not the peak season yet, February is always the worst time for fires.
