I'd join this party. I hate the the 2 parties we have now, especially the Party of Al Sharpton and the Obamatards.

If Obama had a son, he'd be Trayvon Martin.
If I had a son, it would be this Aussie Senator.

Well, the SS is being built in Australia and Australia has a struggling auto industry. The party was partly made to support and advocate for the Australian auto industry.

The SS production is huge for the Australian car industry. The country doesn't get to export vehicles that often.

Be careful what you wish for. This Bogan ran the election for a joke, and managed to win with less than 1% of the vote (please don't ask how the Australian preferential voting system works).
At the time of his win the media repeatedly played a home video of his, showing him to be a complete tool, and certainly not Senator material. And his auto enthusiasm is focused on 4WD vehicles.

I was highly critical of the bloke when I first heard all this. AMEP was actually created by the same bloke who runs Summernats.
Joke or not this guy will, once he takes his seat in the Senate be on 180 thousand a year. That ain't chicken feed.
He will have to grow up pretty fast if he wants to be taken seriously but in all honesty I am willing to give the dude a chance and prove himself.
He is a family man with 5 kids I believe and I think he will do fine.

You could be right, he might surprise us all. The parties are so stacked with apparatchiks and barnacle lawyers he could be a breath of fresh air.
The video wasn't a good start though. If he can get through the embarrassment of that with his chin up he probably has the requisite gonads.

Politics in Australia is about to become hilarious. Palmer is a very clever, very rich fruitloop. A couple of notable actions, he has populated his luxury resort with giant, robot dinosaurs, and commissioned the building of Titanic 11. He has claimed Rupert Murdoch's wife is a Chinese spy among other outrageous claims.
I am not surprised he lured Ricky into his den, who must feel like a freight train has hit him. Palmer is a big man, plenty of room to hide behind.
The stage is now set for the political ride of a lifetime.

To be fair AMEP cut the Victorian arm of its party loose as they expected to win a seat in Queensland not Victoria. Ricky is still part of AMEP however answers directly to the party heads in Queensland as I understand it.

Pretty cushy deal really if all his votes are aligned with the Palmer party he basically just has to rock up, listen and vote for his pay cheque.

Wildfires

With all these fires out of control and the upcoming days predicted to be worse, I just want to wish all our Australian brothers and their families well. Please stay safe and out of harms way!

The intensity of the fires is the result of the huge floods from several years ago. It propagated much undergrowth which is now tinder dry due to recent severe drought. Much of the country is like this despite intensive burn back management through winter.
It is not even summer yet, methinks this is the first of many.
Not unlike the dreadful forest fires in California last year.
