Anyone get a decent OnStar renewal deal?

Had my SS since march 1 and today I got a letter saying my free trial of OnStar will expire on Sept 1. I wanna keep it since I like using the onstar app for nav and remote start, and the peace of mind that I can get someone if I need to help.

However it's pretty pricy - almost $300/year.

Has anyone figured out a way to get them to discount it like you can do with SiriusXM?

I'm probably gonna regret this but ...

The per month price is ??? .. I shredded the "OFFER" .. same with MAP upgrade "OFFER" .. thank you, but no ...

Instead, I got a S9+ phone w/Dolby and its loaded:
WiFi hotspot, waze, google maps, navigation, music apps, uber, lyft, tracking, GPS, altitude meter, sound meter, UV meter, WYZE cams, OGYouTube, etc., etc. ..
I'm quite sooo satisfied with this decision .. and I can move it between cars w/o hassle or cost.

Sirius I do not use .. IMHO, archaic 1990's tech.
The navigation on both the SS and the V, I have stopped using.

The phone won't call the cavalry when the airbags go off or the sensors detect an accident. Onstar can and has saved lives. The phone won't have a person other than you to call LEO or Ambulance knowing your exact location ... and what if you can't because of injury???

certainly a good thing to have, but phone tech (phone APPs) can also make the emergency call even if you are disabled, plus find car, track car, etc...
Some activity bands can also activate phone features
honestly, there are APPs that can track YOU 24/7, in or out of the car, walking, bikes, skydiving, wine & dine situations .. THAT's valuable in many situations.
We can even track others, kids, family, whoever ...

We also got many new choices in navigation maps, traffic, police, on-route-accidents, etc ...

Maybe someone can test the crash features?
I am NOT volunteering to do a test.

Like most vendors, if you tell them you want to cancel your service they will normally transfer you to the 'customer retention' group and they will cut you a deal. I do that with On-Star, Dish, XM, etc.. Just be prepared if they call your bluff.

I always wondered why GM didn’t just make it standard on all their cars for free (they could’ve buried it in the base price). Putting safety ahead of profit would be a nice sales gimmick.
