Well, I put my first 2 coats of wax on the car today. It was raining outside so I figured it would be a good time to do it and let it cure for a few days.

I started with Claying the whole car, lots of junk came off the car. Then I used ReJex. Looks good. I will be getting some Adams products after the holiday to include glaze, butter wax, and the 2 step polish!

I took advantage of the Adams 15% off sale to restock and get the basic polishing kit. While that's on the way I'm watching how to videos.

I had a cheap polisher more than a decade ago that used the terry cloth bonnets with cleaner waxes. I'm hoping the Porter Cable will be a big improvement.

How much clear coat is being removed and how many times can a car be polished?

Hardly any is removed. The initial correction is the biggest, after that it's just maintenance (if done correctly).
I hope jou are on the Adam's forums as well :grin

Y'all should really consider ceramic nano coating such as opti coat or cquartz and several more on the market . I tried both named above and opticoat is best I've used so far .

The benefit of using these is last longer than wax and protects better than wax.

Now the preparation is in depth but time saved in long run is well worth it.

Being a novice I'm attracted to the more simple Adams's product line up and prefer to keep it all Adams if possible. Adams is working on a longer lasting protective coating and I'm waiting for it.

I'm within driving distance of Chemical Guys so visited to get some recommended glass polish to remove water spots on my wife's glass.
The number of products per category is overwhelming. I'd need to hang out longer talking to the pros and sales people to make any choices. I considered their basic polish kit but it comes with five pads. I'd never start polishing faced with that many choices.

I did a full paint correction on my PBM. I used Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0 with white Lake Country polishing pads on my Griots 6 Dual Action. It took out all the swirls and finished like a polish, no need for a 2 step correction with products like this now. Sealed with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant and topped with Wolfgang Fuzion. Maintained with Wolfgang Spray Sealant and Instant Detail Sprits.

Wolfgang Uber (more aggressive than TSR) and Menzerna FG400 also 1 step compounds that finish like a polish.

If anyone has questions about detailing, products, coatings, techniques feel free to PM me.

It took 7.5 hours, with help, to wash, clay, correct polish, finish polish and paint seal. I applied VRT to plastics and tires and polished exhaust tips during cure time, then butter waxed and cleaned windows. I'm a mess but the car looks good.

I can see why some move on to faster polishers. Four hours were spent correcting.

I'm too tired to post a photo.

Moving to quick with a Dual Orbiter just means you will be doing it again after all the swirls are not removed. 4.5hrs is about average for me. :)

Also with your butter wax mention do you use Adams products? :) best on the street.
