Ok, so I just purchased a SS on Friday, noticed the steering wheel cocked about 5* to the left, but after a 900 mile round trip this weekend in it, it never really pulled to one direction or the other. So, after getting the specs from GM uploaded into our alignment machine, and getting the car on the rack, the specs were almost dead on. 0.06* off. The gas tank was on empty so I am bringing it back in tomorrow with a full tank and having it checked again.

Now, here is our theory, which I hope, keep your fingers crossed, is going to be the answer to our issue, since a lot of us are experiencing this...

We believe that the steering wheel position may need to be recalibrated with the EPS. After checking the alignment specs again tomorrow with a full tank and a test drive with the tech, we will talk to TAC and see if that is what GM think should be attempted to correct the issue.

I will keep everyone updated.

Mine was tilted more like 10-15 degrees to the left. I took it back to the dealer at the 500 mile mark and it is now perfectly straight. The alignment was never off the whole time. I'm not sure how it corrected.

Actually that makes a lot of sense....

When we turn the steering wheel all it does is turn a rotary encoder that sends a signal to the power steering motor. The power steering motor maintains or changes position to match this signal. But if the zero or home position isn't correct then trying to adjust for it in the alignment is just plain wrong. It might actually cause damage or accelerated wear to the components.

Ok, with a full tank of gas the toe was within 0.02* so the tech aligned to 0. he drove it about 2 miles down the road, but being that we are in the hill country, and there is no such thing as a straight flat road, he said it was hard to tell if his adjustments got the wheel back where it needed to be. Since I am already having the steering wheel replaced under warranty because make-ready damaged the leather trim, he didnt want to mess with the steering wheel position until after we put the new steering wheel on, which isnt due to arrive from michigan for about another week... so, until then... this is all I have.

Please don't tell us they used a box cutter to get the plastic off!

This is interesting and I'm glad its not just me. I was noticing the same thing yesterday. The wheel is slightly cocked to the left. Any updates here would be helpful.

I just drove the car on my lunch break. Now that specs are on the nose, it pulls slightly to the right. I am going to have the tech ride with me this evening so he can see/feel the pull, no ****. At this point, I believe the wheel position is going to have to be recalibrated. So, more waiting...

Well, as I stated before, the roads around here are not straight, very many hills, no flat ground, and almost every turn is banked... yes, it is awesome, but not when youre trying to make sure your car is properly aligned. there is one flat straight away for about a mile but the speed limit is 45, so we goosed it up to 70 for a short bit and it seemed to be straight. Wheel still VERY slightly tilted to the left, so once I get the new steering wheel in and replaced under warranty we will stick it back on the rack to see specs and and adjust wheel postion if needed. I hate waiting.

dam thats horrible!!! the longer you wait the easier it is for the dealer to say you did it!!

Mine was torn right where the leather stiching meets the top right corner of the airbag, literally sliced the corner off, and it was peeling back. Showed it to my service manager and they told me to order another and they chewed out the porter... not like chewing him out was gonna make things better....

Got my new wheel in today. Upon further inspection of the orginal, it appears that the "tear" is not a "tear." what we thought was a tear was just the leather folded out from under the stiching, it appears, and the stiching completely coming apart and coming unglued from the wheel.

Alignment fixed all

My steering wheel also was off to the left and the car pulled to the left. Had it aligned, (toe was out of alignment) car now goes straight and the wheel is centered.
