Just installed the K&N replacement filter...Looking for 3" cat-back exhaust, CARB Excempt headers and/or axle-back performance muffers...Like the sound but needs a little more growl...Magnaflow developing exhaust but won't be avail til end of first quarter 2014...No one else has any mods...

Like to take to the track and see if the ole SS will run with the CTS-V group...I'm thinking the setup and weight distribution will make it handle good even thought it's 3975 lbs...

Well, if some enterprising Aussies can tell us if all the exhaust hangers are in the same place you can simply use a G8/VE exhaust on the SS/VF.

I'd try running headers, high flow cats, and mid pipes right into the factory axlebacks. Should sound awesome with minimal drone.

Someone with both a G8 and SS needs to do a side by side exhaust configuration comparison to see if the G8 headers will bolt right up.

If you end up going with a catback and have an interest in selling your stock axlebacks, please let me know. I want to do some experimenting with them on the G8.

I remember a while ago someone from Walkinshaw suggested the hangers are in the same locations based on a underbody shot from an SS.

So if it fit a GXP then it should fit the SS, may or may not equire minor mods but should be very doable. I know the factory headers are different to the G8 but I haven't seen a Chev SS header vs VF HSV header to be able to tell for sure

Thanks a bunch...I'm sure more companies will begin making them or actually verifying if the GXP exhaust will fit the SS...Time will tell..

I noticed one thing you SS owners could do for more sound/performance. The SS has a second set of cats called pup cats(you can see them just ahead of the muffler in that underbody shot above). The 2009.5 G8's had them as well and they cost about 5hp/lbft compared to the earlier G8's that didnt have them. Im not sure what an exhaust shop would charge you to remove them but if you didnt want to go all out and get long tube headers it might be a cheap upgrade.

I will check to make sure no sensors on these "Pup Cats" and since I'm in Calif Long Tube headers must be CARB Approve/Excempt which many companies other than JBA cannot provide...

if it does or even if you ran high flow cats you can use these.

it will solve your problem with codes

Construction is currently underway at Fontana speedway to building the sound retaining wall for it's 1/4 mile track. So you may get your wish running with the V's once it's completed. ;)

Keep in mind that there are other simple mods that can easily unlock power on these cars. A stage 2 ported intake manifold and tune will yield a good 15whp alone; not to mention with the transmission settings tuned as well the car becomes a completely different animal.

Tune alone will pick-up 15 whp and change the the way the car feels in a good way. Reducing the TM (torque management) to a more appropriate level will make it accelerate and downshift much more smoothly. There are literally dozens and dozens of tables, limiters and switches to tweak for a much better responding PCM & TCM.

Have you ever considered a custom exhaust?
Be cautious unless you know about exhaust drone and the tricks to fixing it...
