550HP Supercharged Chevrolet SS Performance Sedan... is what we NEED!

HSV (Holden Special Vehicles) has reportedly built their Supercharged VF Commodore-based HSV to get 550 horsepower up from 435 horsepower stock.

I know a lot of people here would be very happy with a 550HP Supercharged Chevrolet SS. It's something Chevy needs to do with a higher performance Chevy SS, if not, at least we'll have aftermarket options, but I rather see Chevrolet make this happen!

At the very least, officially rate the LS3 at 435hp, not a big deal for those getting a tune, but for those that are not, 435hp sounds much better then 415hp. I'm just saying.

Also, what would they call the LSA version of the SS? Chevy SS ZL1 (consistent with Camaro) or make up a new moniker?

I'll be happy with the based SS, even if we in the states get the LSA, since I won't be able to afford the supercharger version.

"Chevy SS ZL1" sounds good to me, it does flow with the Camaro which is a good thing. Would be tough to say if Chevrolet would create whole new performance moniker.

This might give some aftermarket company in the U.S. a chance to offer some sort of forced induction kit to SS customers, turbo or supercharged.

it will all come down to numbers and some bitching (why do those aussies get a blown car and we don't) when you are at the dealer,
gm will listen to one customer who will ponyup at the dealer before taking advice from one hundred sookie bithes on the internet most of whom (99%) will never buy one no matter what it has.

we still have the commodore becouse everytime holden went to meetings at gm they would have been told front wheen drive is the future,
holdens responce back then was both numbers 1 & 2 on national sales are front engine rear drive 6 & v8 sedans, aussies don't want large fwd cars and they put their money where their mouth is.
fwd has never done well in the large car market here.

I agree 100 percent. I also believe the post VF Commodore will remain RWD. You just have to look at sales of its nearest competitors in the large car segment. specifically the Aurion whilst new on the market is still a pretty poor performer compared to the VE Series II.

Even BMW and Mercedes have slightly increased sales in the large segment whilst FWD is pretty much MEH!!!

We already have a blown SS Sedan.
It's called the CTS-V.

If you are willing to spend ZL1 type money for a SS Sedan with a blower, you might as well just spend the extra $7k and buy the Caddy.
:headdesk:

I can understand where you come from when you say the Camaro is the same car as the Commodore, but to call a CTS-V a supercharged SS sedan is utter stupidity.

Very true.

It's probably why GM won't do it, they might see a supercharged Chevy SS being pointless cause of the CTS-V already being their.

Then there's the upcoming Cadillac ATS-V that will be a beast, probably won't have a V8, but a built forced induction V6 engine.

CTS is obviously built on a different (better) chassis than the SS Sedan and Camaro.
The point that I was making, and that was obvious to everyone but you, is a supercharged SS Sedan would be too similar to a CTS-V for GM to to offer both.
If GM actually DID offer both, the CTS-V would be the better buy, especially if you use ZL1 Camaro pricing for the SS Sedan.

The HSV is supposed to cost $90k in Australia - its got no chance of coming here. This is probably the car Hendrick wanted to bring over. Looks like it was more than just a plan.
Secret plan to build supercharged SS
$90k or even up to $100k euro. That pricing is scary but I don't know what that is when converted to american dollars.....

$70k American performance sedan?

As of today. 1 Aus Dollar = 1.03 US Dollar.

So if it is 90K Aus Dollars it would be a little over $90K US dollars.

Either way. Out of my price range.

Wow that's a lot, although that's double the price of what the regular Chevrolet SS is suppose to cost it might be a good idea if Chevrolet makes their own version of the HSV GTS as a "concept" just to gauge interest, who knows if they get enough interested people they might go through with it.

Everything is more expensive in Australia anyway, and not just because of the USD to AUD performance.

Forget about the stupid Australian Pricing and ignore he Aussie Dollar also . . . When the G8 GXP went from OZ to the US it was priced at half that of a GTS . . . with very similar spec . . The LSA Chevy SS will happen and will be in Chevy Showrooms for a few dollars less than a CTSV - expect to see it in the early $40's . . It's a matter of being patient

The Chevy LSA WON'T get MRC or the HSV AP Racing 6 Spot brakes & 20" wheels etc . . . but it will get all the available fruit that can be thrown at it on the Holden production line in Elizabeth SA . . . Inc a US designed front facia
