So I have read through the thread, excellent. I have a couple of questions. For these high horsepower numbers, was there any modifications to the transmission to handle the amount of power going to the wheels? And what is yalls opinion on the gm LSA supercharger? Carb is not a problem for me as I won't live in California again.

I have the LSA, a ZL-1 converter, and a trans tune. The Engine and trans tune are critical with a forced induction setup.

I can understand the tuning for ecm and tcm but is there any hardware I need to change like do I need to install a shift kit in my 6l80e
Not at this level. we have customers making over 800RWHP on stock 6L80's, but as mentioned above, how it's tuned is crucial to that being true. Incorrect tuning on the engine, and trans, can harm the transmission. We recommend certain items like a deep pan, aux trans cooler, and high flow filter for the transmission as well, but not specifically due to it not being able to handle the power, it's really just adding in cooling capacity, and extra fluid flow under heavy loads and acceleration.

Magnuson Heartbeat Decision

I have a 2015 SS with a manual transmission and am thinking about installing a Magnuson Heartbeat SC in it. However, before I make a decision I'd like to see an SS with the same SC already installed. I live in SoCal near Glendale and have lined up an installer in North Hollywood. While he's installed SCs in three SS cars, none were Magnusons so he can't refer me to a satisfied customer. I plan to call Magnuson and get the names of other local installers and will try to find a customer that way, but I thought I would try this forum.

Is anyone out there who would met me so I can see your car? Please let me know.

Thanks!

Dang, I didn't know they were so close to me. Might have to go by and take a look. Though I'm still in hot water for the car, adding this would be grounds for divorce ?.
My wife had to drive my Aveo for a couple days while the Odyssey was being repaired. She complained about the car being a piece of c--p and how embarrassed she was to drive it. I saw a commercial for the 20% discount that night and went and checked out the car the next day. I bought it the day after that. She didn't know anything about it until she left for work at 8 in the morning and saw it in the driveway. I watched her reaction with the security cameras, she was not pleased to say the least. 3 months later she has still not ridden in the car. Bottom line if I put a supercharger in the car she would never know, lol.

I'm guessing you had the shop do the tune? How long did you have to leave the car for the install? How much was the total cost for everything, including dyno tests? Did you get the CARB EO number sticker with the kit?

540 WHP is huge if everything else is stock on California 91 octane garbage. I live in Northern California so I'd want to use a shop up here if I could find a good one if I wanted to install a supercharger, but if I couldn't it sounds like it would be worth it to bring the car down to So Cal to get it put in.
Not sure where you are in Nor Cal but West Coast Mufflers in Concord is an authorized installer. It is a great shop with great people, you will have no worries if they install it for you. Give them a call, or better yet stop by and talk to Steve.

Just adding the basic kit. Shop couldn't flash the PCM so they sent it to Magnuson. Still running rough so they looked at injectors and then replaced the MAP sensor. My understanding is manifolds changed for 16/17 so just checking if anyone else has had trouble.

On a related note, was considering swapping in the lower ratio automatic final drive to lower engine RPM at highway speed. Has anyone done that?

Why would the manifolds change, the engine and drivetrain is the same through all years....except the exhaust amd intake box that has a tube connecting to the cabin. Engine and componets should all be the same.

Sounds like you are having issues with the Magnuson supplied tune. A few other members have had issues with the supplied tune also. Basically if you want it to run the way it should, take it to a proper tuner, but that would void their warranty (if thats important to you).

It would also invalidate the CARB EO, important in california.
