would it be possible that with production moving to the united states for 2016 model year that canadians may start getting the SS sedan, since they won't be getting it for 2014 and probably 2015?

GM did back off on selling the SS in Canada because large sedan's like them don't sell well, just look at how many G8's canucks have. They might have to buy these cars used once they hit the used car market, some can argue that it might not be worth all the trouble since used G8's can be bought for even cheaper and built-up to be a beast with what they saved from not buying an SS.

That might make more sense for people who have a budget in their mind. The G8 is older now yes it is cheaper but is it necessarily better. Don't get me wrong i liked those G8s but I just think the new SS has potential.

Why wouldn't the new Chevy SS be available in Canada? I think the production should stay in the U.S. though rather than anywhere else.
everytim im up in canada i always see a ton of 300c's, some SRT's. canada's domestic performance sedan market is in the hands of chrysler corp now, too late for chevy. eventually used ss sedan's will be in canada like how some GTO's and G8's are, more so the G8's

Can't Canadians just order from a US dealership and get it shipped over. My cousin did the same thing with his Challenger.
There was no explanation why the canucks weren't getting the Chevy SS. Why do you think GM decided to go with this decision?

Confirmed by GM Canada

General Motors Canada has confirmed the 2014 Chevrolet SS will not be offered in "The Land of the Maple Leaf".
GM hasn't explained the reasoning behind this surprising decision but it's a certainty that its "rear-wheel-drive performance sedan" will not be offered in Canada. The United States will get the car starting with the fourth quarter of the year.
Under the bonnet is a 6.2-liter V8 engine rated at about 415 hp (309 kW) and 415 lb-ft (562 Nm) which should be enough for a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in around 5 seconds. The engine is linked to a six-speed automatic transmission with TAPshift paddles. Other goodies include Brembo brakes, MacPherson strut front / multilink independent rear and sporty-optimized electronic power steering.
It doesn't surprise me that GM did this. They left out the Pontiac G8 GXP in Canada before too and it was only the v6 and 6.0L V8 but no 6.2 GXP.

I guess it give the canadians an excuse to go shop down south.

saw a carbuzz article that confirmed this, quoted from their article:
The new Chevrolet SS won't be sold in Canada due to a lack of buyers
sucks big time for canadians.

I think the issue with bringing the car in from the USA to Canada would be insurance.

Not sure if insurance companies would even recognize the SS.
