Nurburgring Lap Times: 2014 Camaro Z28 Tops Published Times | Chevrolet - YouTube

I'm not going to look them all up but what is the price bracket were talking here compared to the Z/28. The Z isn't "cheap" but **** man, comparable times to McLarens and LF-As and Porsches and Lamborghinis???
From the Fox News article:

The stripped down muscle car dispensed of the 154-turn, 12.9-mile-long circuit through Germany’s Eifel mountains in 7:37.47, putting it ahead of a list of notable exotic sports cars that includes the $100,000 Porsche 911 Carerra S, $240,000 Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera and $400,000 Lexus LFA, not to mention the 556 hp Camaro ZL1 at 7:41.

Not sure which ones that it beat also ran on a wet track. But I would imagine not many of them. Wonder what it would do on a dry track?
Also that run at the end was in the rain. He was losing traction!
It's pretty funny it does better than a Porsche, Just imagine what happens when all this tech and better tech is on the smaller and lighter Alpha platform.
bet it cracks 7:30 in the dry, wonder what the SS will do it in. Any info on the Commodores lapping Nurburg?

I wouldn't doubt it at all, very possible, even with better tires if it doesn't already have whats best suited for it.

I did see some video's and pictures of the VF Commodores testing on the 'ring. Do a quick search i bet something will come up.
The only one I know of is the ute, the ute was in Europe (Spain) for emissions testing when somebody had a bright idea and time on their hands.
If this was a planned event by GM or Holden their are more suitable cars for a trip to the ring

You are right. Holden had a Redline ute in Spain for emissions testing. I think it was a last minute decision to run it around the ring, and that was primarily to shoot a TVC. The ute had 2 circuits of the Ring. With only the 360hp 6.0ltr on board, it managed 8:17 iirc. That should put the ls3 equipped SS somewhere around 8:00.
The 575hp HSV GTS would likely come in just shy of the Camaro.
The Ute was also automatic, I don't think it was close to the best time possible for a Commodore. The GTS should be similar to the ZL1? Not sure what the weight/tyre differences are off the top of my head.
i am VERY curious what it would do on a nice hot day.

I think the ZL1 would have a slight weight advantage over the GTS.

But agree that only 2 laps of the Ring while under direction from a film crew is not the best circumstances to achieve best times.

We have heard of pretty solid data that should put it around at least a 7:31. And that driver is definitely braver than me.
most of these test drivers are crazy in someway or another.

Balls so hard they can't even find him!
