Ever since I got rid of my '07 Monte SS, I've been anxious to see if the hype surrounding this new SS is justified, the jury will be out for a while. With still not enough info provided (price, m.p.g. ,top speed,1/4 mile results, ride and how she handles), opinions will be all over the place. It looks pretty good to me, but I'm a lot more partial to the G8 front end. I do prefer the back end, especially the tail lights over the Pontiac however.
A friend of mine just last Summer traded his LS2 Caddy CTSV (manual trans) on a brand new Charger RT. I wasn't impressed with his black Caddy, especially it's interior. The Dodge looks real nice on the exterior, but the interior looks very cheap. He says he dosen't miss the 30 horses or lack of a manual trans.

I prefer an automatic and look forward to magazine tests of the new SS

Smitty.

Based on what stock g8 gxp's are achieving I would expect 1/4 mile times in the high 12's with 0-60 coming in under 4.5.

With it being lighter, having wider rubber and depending on what rear end goes in those numbers should be easily achieved.

May have to unload my front drive 08 SS for one of these....it's either this or a pre owned V series CTS. This looks really good though!!

Choosing the Cadillac CTS-V over the new Chevrolet SS will be a tough call man.

But it all depends what you want. If you want the performance of the SS but with luxury the obvious choice is Cadillac, but it won't be as unique as the SS being a limited production car thats BRAND NEW.

If you can, get a C6.
If you need the back seat, I'd say get the used CTS-V.

When deciding a daily driver I considered, then did back to back test drives over a week, with the Camaro, G8, C6, CTS-V, Audi S4, Audi S5, Evo, STI, Audi RS4, and 911. (a few I already own)
I chose the G37x sedan because I wanted AWD and I am VERY happy with my G37x decision. Even the RWD G was a strong choice, but the AWD made the choice easy.
If I insisted on a manual, I would definitely be between the C6 and the CTS-V.

Make sure you drive the G37 and the Charger, as well as research the next generation G37 (Infiniti Q50) before you pull the trigger.
Good luck.

PS
Hopefully, GM will add some options and improvements to their line up ASAP.
