Gas Guzzler Tax on the 2014 Chevy SS...

last I checked it was said to be TBD and chances are we won't know the official amount the gas guzzler tax will be. How much should we expect the gas guzzler tax on the SS to be?

So far Chevy SS pricing breaks down to:

$43,475 - MSRP
$995 - Destination Freight Charge
$900 - Sunroof
$500 - Optional Full Size Spare
$???? - Gas Guzzler Tax

'Guzzler' was $1,700.00 on the G8 GXP. Total Vehicle Price for a G8 GXP with A6 tranny and sunroof ($900) was $40,060.00 per my window sticker

thanks for the reply seems like we should be expecting a gas guzzler tax around that for the SS. sucks we have to pay that much in taxes but all part of the game, gotta pay to play!
What? My SS doesn't guzzle gas. It's only got 3 cylinders and it gets 45mpg in the city.

TT C6

is this your handywork over at GMA

Thanks, American Patrick. Finally some actual factual information on the subject. I really do not see a problem with GM's allocation strategy and it isn't like someone will not be able to get a new C7 if they really want one. There are several large dealers that can drop ship a car. I know for a fact that Stanford will ship you a Corvette wherever you live. And of course there is always the museum delivery option available.

as for gimmics on the SS the self/assisted parking only works in the right conditions, only 3 tries out of 5 worked during a sydney metro test for a week long review, end result was owners will do it once to showoff and never use it again.
had to ask, the part about museum delivery got me, i have read you using it before but as you say it is a common practice in the us,
dealers here only like to hand over a car after they have checked it over first.
Loooooooooooooooooool
Does anyone have access to the order guide yet? I would really like to read it and figure out exactly what SS configuration I will order.

Any help is appreciated.
i was speaking to a Chevy rep and here's what i was told (saved the short convo ;) )

because of the production time, we do not yet have an order guide for you. However, you are very welcome to check into this with your local Chevrolet dealers if you want. You can even ask them if they have email updates for their customers, where this would be a great thing for you to get on with them.
An ordering guide is long overdue.
Thanks SuperSnake. I will continue contact with my dealer. If I get my hands on the order guide first, I will be sure to post it up on the forums.

You're welcome!
I honestly think that Chevy rep was being lazy, I tried my best to get the rep to help me out but I was told to contact a dealership
Please let us know what info you find out and even the order guide if you can get a hold of it through your dealer :D
I coaxed my dealer to give this up for me. A power-operated sunroof ($900) and full-size spare tire ($500) as the only options.

2014 Chevy SS sedan will cost $44,470. That price includes neither destination charges nor gas-guzzler tax, which the SS will be subject to.

I wish the Commodore's orange was available here.

Thanx Brisbane.
Thanks for posting.

WTF did we need an order guide for?
Pick a color and yes/no to a sunroof.
Good God man, you are the rudest person I've ever known.

We all know you hate everything about the SS and that you can't afford it anyway so why don't you just go away?

Mod's, ban this doosh. :hope: There is more than enough 'reason' to do so.
FAQ yoooooooou.

A Camaro pricetag and a manual transmission is all the SS Sedan needs.

I can't believe that the $44,470 doesn't include the destination charges. Every article that talks about it says it does. Of course they may all have the same source.
