I like the fender vent, if you look close enough you'll see how important it is for carrying on some body lines as they start from the vent and get pulled along the body.

I would do what TT_C6 said, kill the chrome. Kill the chrome, deline the side marker lens, and throw in an led bulb their = Win

Yup, the chrome trim is the first thing to go, but the vent is cool. I wish we got something like the Holden Hsv's vent

I think the chrome can look good, however it depends on the body colour too. Chrome on silver = no way. Black chrome and now your talking.

I do agree that the HSV vent looks better and I hope they continue with that.

I too would black out the chrome trim in most cases and have a tendency to purchase darker colored cars. Properly blacked out the Fender Vent brings a slightly more aggressive appeal to the side. So yeah, I like them.

Like the others said, kill the chrome accents.

I like them, but they are definitely from what I can see purely cosmetic. I just don't see much of a cooling effect or good airflow for it through the black plastic splash guard behind the tire
That's exactly what im seeing, they are purely for cosmetic reasons and far from serving any real performance purpose.

Seems like it was needed to carry on some of the design lines on the side profile as they start from the fender vent. Would be cool to see what sort of aero kit Holden Special Vehicles has planned for the VF commodore. If they want to get crazy they can design a functional fender vent that still flows with the original design lines.

Yeah the side of the car would be pretty bland and very Malibu like without the vent...

There may be a chance with some slight modifications of making the vent act like a wheel well pressure relief, kind of like the upper quarter panel vents on the Ferrari 458

I highly doubt that fender vent is functional, doesn't seem to provide any real function. Usually vents on fenders are purposely their to help cool brakes down, how much air can really pass through that if any.

Plus the SS probably doesn't need it's brakes to be cooled in that way.
hm.. I can accept it there but I'd like to know what it looks like in person without it there.

If it serves no function I think it is kind of lame.

Fender vents also provide better aerodynamics by venting the air that gets caught in the wheel well out (and cooling the brakes at the same time)
