Article here said the 2014 allocation would be limited to around 2000. Given we are more then half way through the year and factors such as Holden scaling back their workforce and experiencing high demand for Commodore, that sounds about right to me. Also don't forget the same production line has to make the PPV for US Police forces and Cruze for Australian consumption. There is also some politics being played out around a Federal election here in Australia and GM is trying to strong arm the government for more assistance (cash) so that is all playing out in the background.Read article saying they would be limited availability of SS and if 2000 a year were sold it would be successful. This sounds nuts to me anybody else read this.:whatdoyouthink:

1k,This is such BS. GM doesn't want to sell this thing. If they did, the would have offered a manual transmission and different trim levels for a lower entry price. If they offered a stick shift, the would get every Charger/300 RT/ SRT8 sale, and maybe some AMG C63 sales, for those than want a clutch pedal.
Maybe GM knows that once they offer a Alpha chassis car with 400+ HP (ATS-V, 2015 Camaro), no one is going to want a 4,000lb SS "sports sedan" and the SS is just a stop gap for the uneducated that are unaware that Alpha is about the get 400+ HP.
it doesnt seem like chevy plans to sell very many or make much money off the SS.This is such BS. GM doesn't want to sell this thing. Yeah it's basically dealerships that did well with selling Camaro's and Corvette's that will be getting the SS, and maybe the off few.
It does seem like it may be a bit of a hassle trying to actually get your hands on a SS. Maybe that is the way that Chevy wants it. Only those who are most dedicated will actually get one.I read this morning that we may get even less than 2000 SS'... Honestly I may just wait to see the SS come out on the Alpha platform and get manufactured in NA. I just dont know if this car is going to be worth the hassle of competing to get one, trying to track down which dealer will have one, trying to get the colour I want or waiting for the thing to swim its way here...
With NA production it could at least roll down the same assembly line as ATS or Camaro and maybe just maybe it will be getting a manual. Family or not I want to ROW...
Plus it will keep the wifes hands off my SS... She can barely drive her Escape and she thinks she going to get her hands on my SS... PSHHHH
I think there will be a very high chance of us getting a manual with the Alpha SS, if there's anything they can learn off the current SS , it's that people really want a manualIf demand creeps up to say even 10k/ annum its a good bet that Chevrolet will shift the production of SS stateside. Maybe not next year but definitely for the redesign riding on the Alpha.
Another thing to consider is if SS shifts to stateside production in greater volumes its more likely we get an SS Manual.. Figure if 10% of all drivers opt for manual that ~10% of cars should be produced Manual. 2000 SS production run would need 200 Manual cars. For such a small production run that chunk of 200 is HUGE compared to the over all volume of vehicles being produced. Its just not viable from a business point of view to produce a standard SS.
Because even if 10% of all drivers choose stick, how many are SS shoppers?
