guys, was trying real hard to find some 18" rims for winter and to keep 19's for summer.

Well, reading all the posts here, 18's just don't fit without a spacer, something I don't want to use.

So I figured use the 19's for winter and 20's for summer.

Now, I haven't noticed a lot of postings, so I am going to post one and hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in and tell me if it fits, and if not, throw in a couple of options and have their friends add which wheels they went with and so on.

I would like to find a wheel with minimal hassle, no spacers, no rings to make it rotate straight...just a bolt on.

There should be 18" options that fit. If 18" wheels will fit over a CTS-V Gen 2 brakes (which are an inch larger than the SS) there's something that should fit over SS brakes.

I got a response from the ebay seller for the above that they won't fit.

As far as the Brembo's on the SS, the 18's do clear the calipers but not the black brackets that stick out of them for like an inch!

Ordered my 20" Staggered Lexani wheels today.

35mm offset front and 40mm rear
8.5" and 10"
245/35 & 285/30

Will post pics in a couple weeks, custom ordered so it will take a little bit. 7-10days for the wheels to be drilled plus shipping.

The "bracket" is actually part of the pad damper system, intended to reduce/minimize pad vibration, thus noise (ie. squeal). The Camaro SS uses this front & rear--since the rear rotors on Camaro are actually larger (365mm vs 355mm in front), the 20" wheel requirement for the standard F/R Brembo package on Camaro is due to the rear brakes, not the front. Just like the SS sedan, a 19" wheel should clear the Camaro (SS - Brembo 4-piston) front brakes.

Issues arise when a F/R Brembo upgrade is installed on SS sedan, with a larger rear rotor, depending on what pad is required by the caliper design....the dampers can be removed, but there is probably an undesirable downside to doing so--GM/Brembo would not make the effort to install them if they weren't needed to satisfy a brake performance standard.

Interestingly, the 1st generation CTS-V Brembo brake system - also 355F/365R rotor sizing - did not have the pad dampers, and the standard wheel package for that car was 18's all around. With the pad dampers removed from the SS (front) pads, it is possible to run 18's, as long as the wheel design provides adequate caliper body clearance with the back side of the wheel. Some have used spacers to provide this clearance with their wheel choice.

Some 18" wheels will clear the SS sedan front brakes without modifying the pads, but it isn't a guarantee until it's tried--it depends on the casting design and barrel taper of the wheel.

Camaro had weights on the top of their front(?) calipers at one time, for an NVH consideration only. Owners took to cutting/grinding it off with no ill effects.

Probably truly aren't needed on the SS either, G8 GXP otherwise has the same braking system and no protrusions from their calipers.

There was a soldier here on the base that had a G8 GT sportin the Camaro SS wheels. He did not have any spacers on them and while they do look huge they did clear the rear wheels wells. They were close to being flush though. The wheels you have pictured above can be purchased from a company called OE Wheels LLC. They are based out of Florida and make many styles and colors of reproduction GM wheels that would look great on the SS. Their prices are unbeatable too! Check them out.

"Will not fit SS 1LE or ZL1. Does NOT fit vehicles equipped with upgraded or performance brakes such as Brembo."
They are offset for a standard Camaro SS where as the SS 1LE and ZL1 share the same larger brembo brakes. The Camaro SS comes standard with Brembo brakes so these wheels should be fine on an SS Sedan since the stock Camaro SS wheels will fit no problem.

Thanks, looking forward to seeing those.
BTW, I ordered my wheels from CarID. When you order from them they only offer wheels for your car that are Guaranteed to fit. In case you wanted to save the headache of hoping a wheel will fit.

forgot to mention that I'm ok with wheels sticking out a bit further than currently, probably can't hurt to go a little wider out back too, maybe 295.

Then again...I'm the guy who's liking the current wheels more and more as they get dirtier, I hate the shiny look.
