Has anybody taken their SS to the track yet? The best time I've read so far from a review was 12.9 @ 111mph. I'll be bringing my car out this Saturday unless rain shows up on the radar. Based on that 111mph trap speed I think a mid 12 would be realistic in the right conditions.

Can be possibly get a motorsports section with subsections for drag, road, autocross, etc?

Bradenton Motorsports Park, PBIR is on the other coast for me. Both tracks are far though, BMP is 95 miles and PBIR is 150 miles. The closest track is 47 miles, but only an 1/8th mile. From what I am aware of, PBIR has nothing going on until January 3rd.

Yup, the air and prep weren't the best. With the Florida humidity the DA was around 1500.

My best time was a 13.228 @ 108mph that night, that was with a 2.1 60'. The track was PACKED, over 200 cars running - from 7pm until 12am I was only able to get 4 runs in. I'm sure the car was a little heatsoaked as well from constantly having to start up and creep forward in the staging lanes.

For reference there was a large G8 crew that came in. A full bolt-on G8 GT was running a best of 13.8, a Magnacharged GT was running 12.5, and a cammed GT running 12.6.

The weather this coming Saturday is looking much better, but I don't know if I want to put on all that mileage again going to the track so often.

I'm not surprised at 13.2 given the conditions and that your engine isn't fully broken in yet. I bet we'll start to see some 12.7s and 12.8s in the next year on this board. Still, a full size Chevy sedan running high 12's and low 13's right off the showroom floor? That's awesome

I have no doubts that a mid to high 12 is easily possible with this car once the conditions are right. My brother and several friends were in the stands while I was running, everybody was saying things like "What kinda car is that?" "Is that thing stock?" etc. It's pretty funny how many people are caught off guard by this car - the only people that really knew about it was the G8 crew and one 5th gen Camaro owner... While in the staging lanes a lot of people were asking what kind of car is it (Impala, Malibu, etc), but all of them ended saying it is a sweet car.

Once I put on all my Holden badging it will raise even more eyebrows.

LOL - either this dude was lying about the full bolt-ons or desperately needs the driver mod :)

Very respectable time on the SS. Find you a couple (cheap) 18" G8 GT wheels to abuse at the track and you should be able to knock a couple tenths off. At least that's what I have experienced. Even with summer only Bridgestone's on the 18" wheels my times were better with 18's on the rear.

Nobody was hiding anything - everyone was showing their bays. It was just a contribution of crappy weather and track prep. Everybody ran multiple times and were very consistent.

I'm not going to be changing anything on the SS to get better times at the track, this car is my daily and I'll just bring it to the track for pleasure when I don't want to bring my other car.

Yeah, doesn't make sense to mess with the SS when you have a kick ass GTO. Do you have any links to photos and info on the GTO? Just curious to see what it looks like and what kind of times it runs. It has to be a beast.

I haven't brought it to the track since it's been boosted though, stock motor only lasted 1000 miles / 9 months. Almost finished with my latest build of the car though, just waiting on some little odds and ends. I have a build thread documenting my latest build on the car here:

The GTO has always been a weekend warrior and doesn't really get used much. It was bought new and has under 13.5k miles lol.

Thanks for the links. Didn't mean to side track your thread, but your GTO is absolutely amazing. Very well done and I can tell that you do high quality work to it.
