….the itch.

Aww crap, it is not often I find myself lusting after a car that I can actually afford or justify buying. However, the new SS has me intrigued, very very intrigued. After reading Drew888's comments on another forum we both belong to, I made the mistake of looking at an SS while bored with nothing better to do in Gillette, WY waiting on a train home. It's been a long time since I sat in a car that promised to be so good, a car that beckons one to sit down for a bit and eat up some miles. I used to sell BMW's and they are like that, or at least used to be before BMW decided to load them down with more electronics than you can use or hope to maintain or pay for long term.

At any rate I really really really want an SS, but I am not an impulsive buyer so I'll be doing my research and of course picking people's brains on here if they have the time.

I'd like to get a nice well rounded sports sedan with good power and room for real adults in back and real luggage in the trunk, and I think the SS might fit the bill. My last sporting sedan was a 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT which for those unfamiliar is like an adult WRX. Before that a 2001 VW Jetta 1.8T, and before that a 1994 Camaro Z28 with a 6 speed. I suppose one could also count a 1984 Chevy Cavalier as my first car but that was a hand me down, the first one I ever purchased myself was the Z28.

I currently drive a 2007 Toyota Tundra Limited 5.7L V8, and my wife has a little Scion tC. Both have been paid off for several years now, and I would like to park the truck and take over her car as a commuter and get a fun to drive car we can travel in and she can drive as needed. I also maintain a totally awesome 1995 (I think) Ford Aspire as a run around car in Gillette, WY which is my away from home terminal.

Sorry for the long post.

Good thing is that time is at your side and most definitely no need to rush a decision. Lots of great automobiles to choose from these days. Good luck and enjoy the process!

Thanks, we'll see if I ever actually pull the trigger on one or if something more desirable comes to market before I'm ready to buy a new car. I'm not exactly super brand loyal, and if you had told me a year ago that I would consider buying another GM product other than maybe a Corvette I would have laughed out loud. However, I will give credit where credit is due and admit that GM seems to have removed their heads from their buttocks where vehicle dynamics and interior build quality and materials are concerned.
