I just got off chat with Chevrolet Customer Care. I ordered these shocks through 2 online GM parts retailers, both cancelled my ordered promptly. I guess they don't do backorders, i have used gmpartsdirect many many times in the past with great success and good prices so this was a surprise that they don't handle backordered parts. Anyway after 3 people switching on GM side i got the right guy but wasn't much help. He did get a case number. Basically it boiled down to is he said he could NOT help me unless i actually ordered the parts through a dealer (not internet parts retailer). This is the problem, called local dealer, they also confirmed backorder status, but said they can order and do some 'special' stuff and possibly get them in a few weeks, basically it sounds like they put a 'down car' status somewhere in GM that triggers some process. Which would be fine if the dealer didnt want $650 vs $350 online. I expressed my concerns about this price descrepancy but he basically said that's on the dealer, they have no control.... So this really is a money issue with me, i am not paying $1300 for parts when i know i can get them for $700 (if available). So i may go down the route of magride delete sensors and old school 2014 shocks....which i have not even confirmed those availability...... What a mess, and the car really is horrible to drive if not dangerous.
PS I have also heard about welds failing somewhere, but have not looked to see where these are failing, but know they are gone by the ride and the puddle under shocks.
