I also recently started receiving the intermittent "service airbag" warning. After initial dealer diagnosis this morning, the dealer ordered a sensor located under the passenger seat which detects whether there is passenger seat weight, as related to airbag functionality.

Thanks for the update. That would be very likely based on what I noticed.

I started getting an intermittent airbag light late in this summer. My buddy works at the chevy dealer up the street and the code was for passenger seat position sensor. I didn't feel like worrying about it until next year, though

I hope you NEVER have a passenger in that seat until you get it fixed. Faces get pretty mangled when they go thru a windshield. Broken ribs/hips from seatbelts aren't pleasurable either. ... and your wallet could be empty if insurance determines you knew and ignored the fault.

I might be mistaken because I haven't looked at the full parts list for the airbag components on the ss but in many setups seat position sensor controls how hard the airbag blows based on the front to rear position of the seat and there is a separate switch for whether or not there is an occupant. That being said there is rarely a passenger in my car and I was done driving it a week after the fault started....

Got the "Service Airbag" message which was on constantly after every start up, started a few days ago. 2017 with 15,600 miles.

Apparently my issue was on the passenger side as well, fixed today by greasing the connectors and reconnecting, hopefully will remain fixed.

It is very common on the chevy's all of them to have connection issues in the seat connectors. If you can get someone to scan the codes or turn car off and unplug the yellow connectors under the seats and use electrical grease on them and reconnect them it will most likely fix it. It did mine. You may need to have the codes cleared to make the code go away immediately. If not it will take several ignitions cycles to self clear the code. Just be carefull with any airbag connections not to short any type of voltage to the connections. even static... Stay grounded ...

I've been having issues with mine and it's been in and out of the dealer. They've replaced the sensor but it is till happening. I'll try greasing the connectors.
