Probably. They also probably didn't think it would tapper off this early with anticipation before the car is even teased in any official marketing. I bet they had a plan to tapper production off a bit but didn't think folks would start holding their breath, and wallets, this early.

I imagine once its revealed there will be some that decide that the design or mid engine just doesn't work for them and then they'll get off the pot and buy a C7 anticipating a discount.

GM is having such a problem selling cars, they probably needed to make as many vettes, camaros, and trucks as they could. They are hoping with the increase price of the C8 they can get rid of all these current vettes at sale price. One thing to consider on the new models are the problems that usually come with them.
I have a C6 Z06, I can get in it and see out just fine- getting out is a whole other story for us retirees. Love the SS

There's apart of me that thinks that most of the retireees and baby boomers that always wanted a corvette, already have one.

Maybe they are overproducing the C7 so that they have a bunch to continue sell to folks that are tuned off by the C8 for the next couple years.

I do think the next generation is less steeped in the traditional image of the corvette and more interested in elevating the brand's performance or "potential performance" in an expert's hand. I think there are more mid-engine cars on offer today than anytime in history. That's where the sports car is going.

At the Chevy dealer for service I strolled through the showroom. I'm a guy and 6 foot tall. I was barely able to get in and out of the Camaro. Wouldn't even try a Corvette as to me it would seem claustrophobic. I tried to sit in a Miata once and I could not bend enough to even get in the drivers seat. I love my roomy SS, what a joy.

Not the first time that Corvette days supply has been way over 200.

Why are you all so surprised.

It's called buildout/plant downtime for changeover.

Same with pick 'em ups and ...
41AH24, Wathavidun and GoBlueSS like this.

2017 SIM ROOFLESS SPARE AUTO UNSULLIED
2,701st of 4,008 built 2-5-2017
12th of 17 built as configured
1 of the 17 totaled.

2014 SIM ROOFLESS - Traded
2,703rd customer car built
1 of 73 ROOFLESS SIM customer built cars
1 of 78 total ROOFLESS SIM in US when including the 5 roofless SIM GM internal cars sold as used.
1 of the 78 is confirmed dead and unrecoverable.

I don't do lazy or stupid.
Proudly politically incorrect.

Given the reported/speculated delays in the C8 for an electrical issue / further development I don't think this is terribly surprising either, sounding more and more like the C8 reveal won't be until late summer/fall.

Re: getting in and out of the Camaro, I've found the visibility, greenhouse, and seating position of the two cars to be vastly different. I do find the C7 drivers area to be slightly more compact than my C6 Z06 but overall the ingress/egress hasn't changed much on the Corvette since the C5.

Yeah, but can you pass the broomstick test with a helmet on? That's what killed it for me. But of course, your NB1 is a little roomier than my NB2.
