Hi everyone. I picked up my car today after having an LSA installed and my IATs seem EXTREMELY high. My readings are coming from my HPTuners nGauge. I only get one reading right now which I believe is IAT 1 and it creeped up to almost 160į while I was in traffic. Outside temp was about 72į.

What the heck is wrong?

My setup:

- Completely stock and un-altered LSA blower (replaced the coupler, thats it) with stock pulley.
- ZL1 lid
- custom hx from a forum member which fits behind the factory grill without any cutting or relocations. Slightly larger volume than a stock ZL1 hx
- varimax intercooler pump

I do not have a seperate "expansion" tank

Open air cleaner sucking underhood hot air ain't doing the temps any favors.

Best you will ever get is within in 10-20* of ambient temp while MOVING. Sitting still you have a solid chunk of aluminum sitting on top of another solid chunk of hot aluminum. Verify that your supercharger coolant pump is working properly and that all the air is out of the system. If neither of them fix you up you can always look into ditching the h/x and tapping into your a/c for 50* iat all day long. Chances are your pump wasnít working or you have air in the system still. Good Luck

CB makes a great point and it would be helpful to know if you are running off the temp sensor in the lid or the maf.

Without going to a full forced induction interchiller, you can order their blower spacer plates, and coolant reservoir. These are common LSA choices in Australia, without the complexity of an interchiller. Definite chiller free drops in IAT, not too much complexity. I went the whole hog with an interchiller, but the LSA is a modern upward displacement blower unlike mine.

Just take a look. Is the sensor in the middle of the drivers side portion of the lid hooked up? It’s a brass sensor. The wiring to it will be coming from the maf sensor harness. Heat soak is a very real issue while sitting still.

You can adjust how strong the fans come on based on a/c pressure. You could try this first before you commit to adding new fans and wiring. The higher the a/c pressure generally means the less flow over the condenser. If you start seeing lower iats you could leave it like that or add extra dedicated fans. I personally have mine turned up to help with killer chiller in traffic. It makes a big difference

You could set your fans to come on earlier and it will help a little but it isnít going to work any magic.

The factory fans are slow to ramp up to speed, they start around 20% of maximum capacity. Their normal settings are perfect for stock cars but once you start making changes and require more from them you need to change more than just kick on temp. Itís a bit of trial and error for each individual setup but a lot can be achieved with them. Just donít command them on below 192*
