Windshield Wipers

Having repeated problems with the windshield wiper and washer system. Initially, the wiper arms were not resting all the way at the bottom of the windshield. Then the washer stopped working. Dealer records show they replaced the washer and adjusted the wiper arms. Several months later, same issue with wiper arms. Dealer records show they did the wiper recall work.

This past month while driving in the rain the wiper arms started moving wildly across the windshield, got entangled and mangled the arms. This was a frightening situation, I had to leave the car while on the road to untangle the wipers since I couldn't see past the pouring rain. Managed to clear the rain using one sweep at a time.

Dealer replaced the wiper arms, charged me claiming the GM extended warranty would not cover damage to the arms. And insisted that the situation I described was impossible and could not have happened. The service manager actually told me "show me video, or it didn't happen."

This week while driving in the rain the passenger side wiper stopped lifting and stayed in the down position while the driver side wiper swept only around 80% of the area it's supposed to cover.

Dealer wants me to bring it in again but I have little faith they'll do any better this time.

Does anyone here have any idea what's going on? Any suggestions?

It's almost like the bolt is loose on the other arm.

That makes sense. But why would this keep happening?

05on20s has it arm is loose at nut. Point at which wiper arm socket and wiper transmission stud could be too worn to function but I dont often see that.

So the dealer replaced the arms and didn't bother checking the underlying problem?

D#$!, find another dealer. Looks like it's not fixed to me.
Recently had interior piece replaced, not sitting right.
Removed it to reinstall and even seatbelt bolts loose.
Glad I did and goodbye to that store!
