Hyperflow install and factory lip spoiler removal

Warning I'm a former accessory installer and worked in a shop for about 5 years. Cars are painted metal and I treat them as such, so if you use a diaper on your car this may not be for you.

That out of the way I got my Hsv hyperflow spoiler back from the paint shop this week. It was purchase through JHP and had no issues getting it.

First on to the removal of the stock lip spoiler. Remove carpet from inside the trunk lid to access the three nuts on the bottom. They are easy to find one in the middle and two on the sides. No pics of this self explanatory.

Next I used some fishing line, plastic pry tools and plastic razor blades to get the double sided tape to loosen the spoiler up.

And then your left with a ton of double sided tape to pick off. Also here is a pic of all the holes you are left with.

There are two plugs on the bottom of the truck lid on each side. Pull the plugs and use a center punch to mark the center. Drill out the two hole on each side. I used a 1/8 inch bit. Then close trunk and drill the top holes. I here use a 3/4 hole saw and it worked perfectly the first time.

Now test fitting the lower spoiler part, then I removed it and used silicone on the unused holes

Now ready to install the spoiler. It has to be assembled and doubled sided tape and foam tape installed. Easy stuff just follow the diagram hsv provided.

Hmmm.. not sure I would want an installer working on my car that has that attitude. I was a mechanic at a shop that race prepped Corvettes and F-Bodies for street and track duty and enjoyed it because I was/am an enthusiast and took great care of my customers cars. I would never consider my customers cars as just a piece of painted metal. That's just my opinion though.

Looking forward to how yours looks when the photos are fixed. Seems like it might be a cool install.

Perhaps you missed my point of I'm not afraid to cut or do what's ever needed to install or work on something. I've seen posts already were someone was scared to open up some holes on the trunk to bolt this down.

Also forgot to add, the trunk no longer opens up all the way when popped. You have to push it up but the shocks will hold it with no problems. I read on some aussie forums the springs are different for cars with this spoiler, not the shocks.

Did you get any pics of the spoiler prior to the install?

Any more installed shots?

I may have missed it, but did it come painted?

Can you post the install instructions?

And, does the lower part sit flush on the trunk lid or is their a gap that water can flow through?
