Best Story/Comments about your SS. Let's hear them! This needs to be a sticky! ;)

Best Story/Comments about your SS.

I’ll go first...

i am standing outside with my friend looking at the SS in front of an office building. a guy walks out see use staring and talking about the vents on then Brembo rotors. then stops mid way by the car and says “yeah those are interesting, i wonder how that design works” obviously this guy is some sort of car guy.

then all three of us start talking about it and then he asks. “what is this?” looking at the Holden Badge on the rear trunk lid. i said well "it is a Chevy SS". he looks confused. i proceed to tell him. “well this badge is a Holden Badge and this car is made in Australia and they bring it in as a Chevy SS” then all of a sudden he has a light bulb turn on! he says "like the GTO and G8?!" Ding! Ding! Ding! He then says “Wow this is a cool car! What is it powered by?” I say “LS3” he says while almost jumping up and down “WOW are you kidding me! That is awesome!” he proceeds to talk to me about it for the next 15-20 mins. Lol!

I think Chevrolet needs to pay me commission for this pitch on the SS! Lol!

Guy walks up to me at a gas station and says how do you like your new Malibu? I politely reminded him it is a new Chevy SS, made in Australia like the G8 was. He said the what? I finished fueling and went on my way.

2014 PBM A6 SS No Roof,No spare. 756th built, 22 of 78 so equipped. ROTO FAB CAI. Aftermarket spare, rim and tire in trunk bought at TireRack. Test fit at dealer. All fits well . No more inflator.

Coworker said my new car looked nice yesterday, then she said "it's a Cruze, right?"

Auto-started my SS in a shopping center parking lot on Black Friday weekend.

The biggest, baddest looking dude in the parking lot immediately perked up and jogged over to my car, waiting for me.

"That's a Holden Commodore, rebadged as an SS, ain't it?" "That's a great car, congratulations".

Who knew. The only other reactions I have are long looks from "kinda" car guys who probably recognize the rwd stance and aren't quite sure what it is.

Given rides to people who are always impressed.

My (wonderful, fantastic, loving) wife asked me the other day when we were driving what those things were in the wheels.
I drew a blank. "What?", I asked.
"You know the horizontal things, on the wheels", she replied.
"Huh?", I wittily replied, "what are you talking about"?
"They must be some kind of wheel locks", my wife said.

When we got out of the car she showed me....

The Brembo brakes!

Just so you know my wife is a gourmet cook (I didn't get this way by accident) an accomplished baker, a domestic Goddess and my fearless partner in life. She is just not much of a mechanic....

On the Malibu comment, I walk up behind a white car on the dealer lot which I swear is an SS ......... nope, it was a freaking Malibu. Obviously no mistaking them from the front, but I was fooled when looking from the back.

I mistook it from the front.

I mistake it for a Malibu from the front, and an Impala from the back.

From the side there is no mistaking.

I don't care, because it still isn't as ugly as a Dodge and I like subtlety.

Most of us here on these boards know significantly more about the car than the sales staff does. My salesman is honest with me, he has never seen one and doesn't bullshit me about it. That's why I go back to him. If I had the above dude, I'd go somewhere else.

Current ride: 2014 PBM SS
2004 Impala SS
Recent Past: 2008 TBSS
2010 Camaro 2SS
2004 Corvette Z06
