Good Things to Know/Check Before Buying?

Hello all!

I am 99% dead set on purchasing a Chevy SS in the coming months. There is a very good chance that it will be a used 2015 for multiple reasons with the main concern being cost. I would like to say I've done my research on these cars but I know I'm missing a few things. With that being said, what are some things to look at before I buy an SS specifically? The only two major things I have are below:

1.) Make sure the shipping blocks are off
2.) Steering recall done/fixed

My main concern right now is the power steering going out. This seems to be a common issue with every model year (with the exception of the 17s). What can I do to ensure that it won't happen, or that it's fixed before I buy the car?

Not sure this is common....I would say ensure they have done the recall/SB I am not sure what one it was/is.

wiring recall and seat belt recalls on 2015. My 2015 bumper was coming off on driver side, break noise backing up and stopping going forward low speeds, many had loose driver and or passenger seat, and many had faded wheels. I corrected all except break noise, wheels corrected with powder coating.

My power steering did not go out in 13k miles but did have some mag ride oddities, there is post on that.

Performance wise I loved my 15, very capable drivers car with light wheels, good suspension and weight ratio, LS3, + all the comforts inside.

Just do it, you will not regret it. My '15 6mt has just over 13,000 on it and beside all the recalls / tsbs it has been a blast. That said, if a 20% does return I may have to look hard / if not, oh well = the '15 will be a keeper.

Honestly, there's no reason to check ahead of time about the recalls. The recalls are no charge to customers, so even if they weren't you just drop your newly purchased car off and pick it up later anyhow. The shipping blocks might be a good thing to check just to make sure the ride and handling during the test drive are accurate, but there's no long term damage from having left them in.

Otherwise it's an LS3 with a 6L80. Make sure it shifts okay, accelerates fine without any unusual noises and you can afford it and a few common repairs (Brembo brakes aren't the cheapest, neither are the tires).

Buying an SS isn't anywhere near the same experience as buying an older car or certain imports with nightmareish engine repairs and all that.

A used car that's still under warranty?

Only things I'd be worried about are modifications, abuse, and car wrecks.

Everything else is free to fix.

With a used one, it's probably a good idea to check the VIN with the dealer to ensure the powertrain warranty hasn't been flagged for whatever reason.

It would be good to know if the car was ever tuned based on how many times it has been flashed. This would apply to any used performance car purchase if you are looking for an unmolested car.

A 20% tag event puts a new 17 at near a used 15 price except during the 20% tag event when used 15's are only fetching high 20's and very low 30's on trade in. This event, if it happens, will be the best time to pounce on either

Is there an actual chance of this happening this year?
