Yesteryear Supercars vs the SS

I always love digging up old car mag reviews. It's amazing the level of performance the SS offers compared to the super cars of yesteryear. As a kid growing up in the 70's and 80's, who didn't have a poster of a Countach or a Testarossa on their wall? Yet fast forward 30 years, and it's interesting to see how a mundane family sedan stacks up. We all know the M5 comparo's, but how about these? What's your favorite old-timey benchmark that you like to stack up against the SS? Bench racers unite!

This is not like the post you did. Yours much more technical and yes i had the posters even of a 1984 Vette on my wall. lol.... I have fallen to the new computer age of watching old or YT videos of cars of yesterday and the reviews.
I have posted on more than one thread my dream car when i turned 18 and got in November of 1982 was a red 1982 Camaro z28. I had actually forgot about this show and found these tests so amazing and the fact that it was such a 'simple' time in my life, i just did not know it haha.

How the cars have changed. How slow they really were. How the transition after the oil crisis forced the manufacturers to use decals and stripes which at that time meant 'this car goes fast!'

Although this first video was a 1983 it had the same engine i had. The higher more powerful in '82 was the cross fire injection, dubbed the mis fire injection, however, i still thought it was fast.

Then, to see a show where they compared a blue collar/young adult affordable highest end z28 back then to a white collar workers Porsche 928. Funny/good stuff.

I died when in 1984 they offered the H.O. Engine option with a manual. I was jealous and envious haha. I was locked into a 4 year commitment to my parents who financed the car for me and never missed a payment. I finally brushed it off and kept the car actually for 9 years sold it with 54000 miles for 6700.00. I keep my cars very clean

Anyway, just thought i would share

Yep crazy how the performance of cars had advanced over the years. What we thought was crazy 10 years ago is no big deal now. What does 10 years from now have in store???

Sorry everyone including the OP, i did not actually post something related to the SS. My bad. I should be more careful when i get ready to post. I did not mean to offend anyone by throwing this off the course of the OP.
I just got too excited i guess talking about the cars of the past etc.

I think a new camry could beat an old SS396. At least the 325hp version.

I had Playboy centerfolds on my walls. So we each had pics of our dream rides. To each his own, whatever lights your fire. Oh, I did have a poster with a chopped motorcycle, but it did have a woman wearing only body paint stretched out on it. I still have that poster somewhere.

Garage
It's not just the pure performance but also the insulation or better isolation from the sense of speed. Go drive a 60's muscle car and many/most are actually relatively slow compared to modern cars like our SS, and Camaro, Mustang, and Satan Kitty's yet the FEEL of speed or performance is more pronounced. My 68 Camaro was 475hp full roller into a Tremec 5spd and 12 bolt with 3:73's, it was quick, threw you back in the seat, but reality the SS was faster overall.

Old cars are old cars. New **** is better than old ****. And I'm 71. No nostalgia for me.

When it comes to performance, absolutely. But looks, I'd have to argue with you.
