SS Weight And Balance Numbers Verified

Have you ever wondered what the SS really weighs in the real world, not in the Chevrolet brochure. I had the car corner weighted this morning. I have a 2016 SS with the Magnuson Heartbeat Supercharger (that adds 75 pounds), the gas tank was full (around 17 gallons of wonderful California 91 octane!) and I was in the car too (I weigh 190 pounds fully dressed). With all of that said and done, here is the breakdown: the total weight was 4283 pounds, 1139 on the front left, 1070 on the front right, 1068 on the rear left and 1006 on the rear right. That means the car is 51.6% on the front and 48.4% on the rear. Also the left side is 2145 and the right side is 2138 pounds. That is about as close to perfect as you could get, without corner balancing. For the record, I do not have coil overs (which you would need to corner balance the car. Attached is a photo of the scale results.

The weight on my title is 1860 lbs... This done by a national "Title service" as the dealer wanted someone "skilled and professional" to handle the paperwork (extra fee involved)

Thanks for the info

I think the heartbeat kit adds more than 75lbs. The blower alone is pretty close to that.

Do you have a spare tire, or an inflator kit?

The net effect of the blower is only 75 pounds I am being told because they removed the intake plenum and a few other parts when the blower was installed.

In regards to the weight, don't forget the tank was full and I was in the car too.

Take my OP out puts it at 4093 lbs. spare is probably over 50 lbs. now around 4040 lbs. starter may be 10 lbs? 4030 lbs. with blower at this point. If 75 lbs is all the weight put on by the kit we are then around 3955 lbs. Sounds about right with a full tank of gas. Is your car an auto or manual, and sunroof or no sunroof?

As a side note, what specs did you go with on the alignment? I went pretty aggressive (stock springs and rims/tires) with -1.2 camber front, 7 degrees of caster from using the factory caster kit, and 1/32" toe in per side. Rear is at -.55 camber, with 1/16" toe in per side. The car drives so much better it's hard to believe.

Manual transmission and sunroof. Also have 20 by 9 front wheels with 265-35-20 tires and 20 by 10 1/2 rear wheels with 295-35-20 tires. Add all of this stuff up and the numbers make total sense. I was not surprised in the least when I saw the numbers.

On the alignment went -1.75 front and -2.6 rear (to get the tires to clear, more on that later). Front toe 0 and rear toe 3/32 in.

The intake and other parts are all plastic. You added a couple of gallons of liquid, a heavier crank pulley, heat exchanger, pump, and hoses. It's more than you think. I know the eaton kit I put on a c6 was pushing 150lbs. Heck the shipping weight is over 120lbs
