Welcome to the real world, where Salesmen of any sort are basically the last people to ask technical questions.

Yes they are used as cop cars so part of the story is true.

The last 5 cars I've purchased dating back to 2001, I've known more about the car than the salesman. I could say the same for just about any purchase I make because I like to do my research.

Compound that with the low volume production of the SS and I don't really expect the dealership to know anything about the car.

Total sleeper. Unfortunately most departments love Fords and the Chevy, like the Dodge are too cramped inside. Especially after adding computers, Havis mounts etc. Not to mention the 28lb belt that adds like 6" to ones waist!
Is that your car? Or is it a "work" vehicle?

And Maggie, no surprise at all about the dealer knowing little to nothing about the car. That's standard practice really. Most salesmen are just interested in making money off of volume sales. Most concern themselves with how to get you a car while making as most money as possible out of the sale.
This ss not to say that there are not enthusiast salespeople out there, but they are not as prolific as one might expect.
