Total SS Production Number???

Rather than derail another thread I'll pose this here: Total SS production to date is 8,916, only 2,221 produced in MY16. GM will limit total production to 10,000 units. MY17 order window will be short and it will close even more abruptly than it did for the '16s. Discuss.

(Yes, this is complete speculation in my part)

Maybe we should do a pool for the actual number and get a sponsor or two to pony up a couple of prizes...:-)

Man just think if that did happen and you was able to get a orange or grey in a stick maybe that would be the hardest to find SS down the road

So any single year SS is less than any single year car listed above.

Nice
I wonder if 30 years from now guys will be comparing our cars stats like this??

*****EDIT****

I haven't searched, but where does the 10,000 number come from? has someone said it, or is it figuring previous years production?

Just asking..

Just an idea on my part (hence the comment on speculation in the OP.) 1,084 units in MY17 will put total production at 10,000 which would be a nice round number to end the model on...

Buried deep in some of the early posts in this forum are a few that quote from the original GM announcements that the SS would actually be built. Within those quotes is a reference to an estimated run of about 10,000 total units over a span of at least 3 model years. Someone may want to try to dig a reference up or a knowledgeable person could repost - hint, hint!

That 10k figure is a pretty "round" number and it's already fact that the run will encompass 4 model years. The actual total production could feasibly exceed the 10k number, but probably not by much and could be somewhat lower due to supplier issues as the line closes.

Happy speculating!

I was quite surprised at how low MY '16 production was, about 2,200. There was already a drop from '14 to '15 so another drop was expected, but not by as much as they did.

Not sure if the 10,000 production cap is a fact or what, but even if not I have a hard time seeing more than 1,500 or maybe 1,750 made for MY '17.

orange? possibly but grey I don't think so. personally I would have purchased grey instead of black. & if the majority of people were like me then I think it would be 3rd most made color under black & white since its a neutral color. orange is kind of iffy to me because I see a lot of people say they want it but I doubt everyone would actually purchase the color. for example, I love purple but I don't believe I would have purchased the alchemy if I had the choice. it may be the rarest if jungle green isn't offered (seeing it was the lowest for both its years), but it may end up in the middle like red. my

either way with less than 2k MY17's made, ANY color would be hard to find especially after a couple of years...
